Zero Proof Cocktails: But Make Them Low Sugar
Undoubtedly, the interest in swapping alcohol for zero proof is growing, especially among young adults. A recent Gallup Poll found that there was a 10% drop in U.S. adults under 35 reporting that they drank alcohol, with many saying they view even moderate drinking as suboptimal for health. According to another report, 70% of young adults report not being interested in alcohol. And while not everyone is ready to commit to zero alcohol, it appears the percentage of people interested in - at the least - moderating their alcohol intake is increasing.
However, many alcohol-free drinks are loaded with sugar. So we've put together a few recipes for you that are both low sugar AND flavorful.
Spicy Margarita Mocktail
INGREDIENTS
Tajin
Coarse Salt
Crushed Ice
1oz Lime Juice
1oz Grapefruit Juice, unsweetened
Sparkling Water
Jalapeno
HOW TO
1. To a glass, line the rim with tajin and a sprinkle of coarse salt.
2. In the glass, add crushed ice + 1oz lime juice + 1oz grapefruit juice + 1/2 cup sparkling water + 2-3 slices of jalapeno. Stir & enjoy!
Sparkling Cranberry Lime Mocktail
INGREDIENTS
2oz Cranberry Juice, unsweetened
Juice of 1/2 a lime
Ice to fill a glass
Sparkling Water
HOW TO
1. Combine cranberry juice and a squeeze of lime juice in a tall glass.
2. Add ice to fill the glass, then pour in your sparkling water & stir. Garnish with a slice of lime. Enjoy!
Citrus Paloma Mocktail
INGREDIENTS
Sparkling Water
Ice Cubes
1/3 Pack Grapefruit, Citrus or Orange Salt LMNT
Orange Wedge
HOW TO
1. Stir 1/3 pack of citrus-flavored electrolytes into a glass (2 cups) of sparkling water with ice cubes.
2. Add a wedge of orange (or any other citrus fruit really!) and enjoy!
Blood Orange Ginger Zero Proof Cocktail
INGREDIENTS
Crushed Ice
Sparkling Water
2oz Blood Orange Juice, Freshly Squeezed
1 tbsp Ginger Juice
Blood Orange Slice
HOW TO
1. In a wine glass, add a handful of crushed ice and 2 cups of your favorite sparkling water.
2. Add 2oz of freshly squeezed blood orange juice.
3. Add 1 tbsp ginger juice.
4. Garnish with a slice of blood orange, and enjoy!
Refreshing Grapefruit Mocktail
INGREDIENTS
Citrus Sparkling Water, Chilled
1oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
Grapefruit or Lime Wedge
HOW TO
1. Combine 1 cup of chilled citrus sparkling water with 1oz of fresh grapefruit juice.
2. Garnish with a grapefruit or lime wedge - or both! - whatever you prefer! Enjoy!
3 Ingredient Mojito Mocktail
INGREDIENTS
12-16oz Citrus Sparkling Water, Chilled
Juice of 1/2 Lime
1/2 Lime, sliced
Few sprigs of mint (stems removed)
HOW TO
1. Add 1-2oz of citrus sparkling water (we love lemon!) into a tall glass.
2. Add few mint leaves and muddle.
3. Top with the remaining sparkling water.
4. Add a few slices of lime and a sprig of mint on top!
